The Libraries Institution of Bologna
The Libraries Institution was found in 2008 by Comune di Bologna to administer and coordinate the fifteenth municipal libraries operating in the territory.
Following the principles expressed by UNESCO Manifesto on public libraries, it guarantees people the right of information, knowledge and culture. Moreover it promotes its development improving multimedia systems and fostering equal opportunities, following an inter-cultural perspective.
In particular, the institution guarantees every citizen preservation, improvement and accessibility to its bibliographic and documentary heritage; it is also significant to gain knowledge about history, traditions and environment of the city of Bologna, as regional capital and university city with its European vocation.
